We are Shield AI, and our core mission is to safeguard the lives of civilians and service members through the development of advanced intelligent systems. Our Hardware Test Engineering team plays a vital role in this goal by creating sophisticated test solutions that ensure the high reliability of our V-BAT vehicle. We are looking for a Senior Electrical Test & Rapid Prototype Engineer II to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis. In this position, you will help us build the most dependable aerospace hardware in the industry by designing in-house electrical and mechanical equipment for rigorous component and system-level testing.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the full lifecycle for multiple test stands, including gathering requirements, designing the systems, and validating them for use with V-BAT subsystems.
- Create custom PCBs of varying complexity to serve as the interface between your test stands and the hardware being evaluated.
- Develop automated test sequences using Python and design robust test fixtures that incorporate elements like relays, PLCs, and custom harnessing.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or an equivalent combination of professional experience.
- A strong command of core engineering principles, spanning electrical and mechanical engineering, physics, mathematics, and programming.
- Proven experience working on multidisciplinary hardware projects, whether through professional roles, internships, or personal initiatives.
- A track record of taking full ownership of project outcomes and maintaining high standards for yourself and your teammates.
- Proficiency with Altium or similar PCB schematic and layout software is preferred.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or other CAD tools is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and remain agile while working under the pressure of dynamic project timelines.
What we offer
We provide an environment where you can grow your expertise across multiple electrical engineering disciplines, including power electronics, RF, and communications. You will gain hands-on experience with advanced testing methodologies such as HASS, ESS, and HALT while contributing to a mission that directly impacts the safety of others. We value hard work, kindness, and collaboration, and we look for teammates who are eager to advocate for design improvements that streamline our testing processes.
