At Shield AI, our mission is to protect the lives of service members and civilians through the development of intelligent systems. We are currently focused on our V-BAT vehicle, working to deliver the most reliable aerospace hardware in the industry. Our Hardware Test Engineering team plays a vital role in this effort by creating sophisticated test solutions that ensure our systems perform flawlessly, even in harsh environmental conditions.
The role
We are looking for a Junior Electrical Test & Rapid Prototype Engineer II to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in the United States. This position is perfect for an engineer who wants to take ownership of complex hardware testing challenges and grow their expertise across multiple disciplines, including power electronics, RF, and communications.
Core responsibilities
- Manage the entire lifecycle of test stands, from gathering requirements and designing systems to validating the hardware used for V-BAT components and subsystems.
- Develop and maintain automated test sequences using Python to streamline our validation processes.
- Design custom PCBs and test fixtures, incorporating elements like PLCs, relays, and mechanical assemblies to interface effectively with our devices under test.
Skills and experience
To succeed in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in engineering principles and a passion for hands-on hardware development. We require the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- A firm grasp of fundamental concepts in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, programming, physics, and mathematics.
- Proven experience with multidisciplinary hardware projects, whether gained through professional work, internships, or personal technical initiatives.
- A demonstrated history of taking ownership of projects and delivering high-quality results.
- Proficiency or familiarity with Altium for PCB design and SolidWorks or similar CAD tools for mechanical design.
- Strong communication skills in English and a commitment to working collaboratively as a trustworthy, high-standard teammate.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in fostering a culture of excellence and high standards. While we do not have specific salary information to list here, we provide a dynamic and innovative environment where you will gain hands-on experience with HASS, ESS, and HALT testing while contributing to life-saving technology.
