The opportunity

We are searching for a talented Lead Engineer to spearhead the software integration and testing strategy for our X-BAT aircraft. This is a pivotal role where you will own the commit-to-flight pipeline, ensuring that our software-ranging from autonomy and embedded systems to ground control applications-is robust, reliable, and ready for mission operations. You will be instrumental in modernizing the defense industry by building scalable test infrastructure that allows us to deploy software rapidly and safely. A day in the life

• Architect and lead the development of a comprehensive system that integrates simulation, hardware-in-the-loop solutions, and CI/CD pipelines to facilitate continuous software releases.
• Design and implement software interfaces and drivers to orchestrate complex test environments, enabling the validation of safety-critical software through real-world behavior simulation and failure injection.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with our aircraft autonomy and hardware teams to define system requirements, establish release gates, and execute rigorous test plans for major flight milestones.

Who you are

You are a seasoned engineer with a deep background in software testing and a drive to solve complex, cross-disciplinary challenges. You communicate effectively in English and bring the following qualifications to our team:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with at least 7 years of experience, or a Master’s or PhD with at least 5 years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python or C++, specifically regarding the automated testing of software integrated with hardware.
• Proven experience in building continuous integration solutions, including CI/CD pipelines and simulation environments.
• A solid understanding of software testing and quality assurance principles, particularly within real-time systems, avionics, or vehicle software.
• A track record of technical leadership and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
