Role at a glance

We are seeking a Principal Engineer to join our Architecture team. This is a full-time, senior-level position focused on defining our technical direction and strengthening our data architecture. While you will operate at a high level to guide complex decisions, you will also remain hands-on with code and design. This role is remote for candidates based anywhere in the United Kingdom.

Your impact

• Define and evolve our platform architecture, establishing the standards and blueprints that guide our engineering teams.
• Lead the strategy for our data architecture, determining how we structure, store, and leverage the massive amounts of data our platform generates.
• Act as a senior technical advisor who bridges the gap between system-level strategy and hands-on implementation, ensuring our services remain scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient.

What you'll need

You should be an expert in building distributed systems and microservices, with a proven track record of operating at a Principal or Staff level. We are looking for someone who can navigate the trade-offs between performance, reliability, and cost while turning ambiguous problems into clear, actionable technical plans. You should have strong experience with AWS and modern infrastructure practices, along with deep expertise in data architecture. Proficiency in Kotlin or Java is essential, as is experience with REST API design, Terraform, and event-driven architectures like Kafka. You must be comfortable communicating complex ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in English.
