At Shield AI, our core mission is to safeguard the lives of service members and civilians through the deployment of intelligent systems. Our Hardware Test Engineering team plays a vital role in this goal by creating sophisticated test solutions that ensure the high reliability of our V-BAT vehicle. We build custom electrical and mechanical equipment in-house to conduct rigorous component and system-level testing, even under harsh environmental conditions. We are looking for a dedicated professional to help us deliver the most reliable aerospace hardware in the industry.
About the Role
We are searching for a Senior Electrical Test and Rapid Prototype Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. In this position, you will be responsible for designing test PCBs, automating test sequences using Python, and developing test fixtures with commercial off-the-shelf equipment. You will also have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with HASS, ESS, and HALT testing as you contribute to our mission of hardware excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the requirements gathering, design, and validation processes for various test stands used to evaluate V-BAT components and subsystems.
- Design simple to moderately complex PCBs that serve as the interface between your test stands and the devices being tested.
- Develop fully automated test sequences by utilizing Python to streamline our hardware validation efforts.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, we look for the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of work experience.
- A strong command of fundamental engineering principles, including physics, mathematics, programming, and mechanical engineering.
- Proven experience working on multidisciplinary hardware projects, whether through professional roles, internships, or personal initiatives.
- A track record of taking ownership of project outcomes and maintaining high standards of collaboration and integrity.
- Preferred experience includes proficiency with Python, PCB design software like Altium or KiCAD, and CAD tools such as SolidWorks or NX.
Location
This position is based in the United States and requires an on-site presence.
Compensation and Benefits
We value the expertise and dedication our engineers bring to the team. While we do not have specific salary figures to list at this time, we provide a collaborative environment where you can grow your skills across power electronics, RF, and communications while working on cutting-edge aerospace technology.
