Hopper is looking for a Backend Software Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Hopper Technology Solutions group on a full-time, remote basis. In this role, you will help build a world-class travel booking portal specifically for our users in the APAC region. Hopper has grown from a popular travel app into a global travel fintech powerhouse, powering major brands like Capital One and Nubank. By leveraging massive datasets and proprietary fintech products, we help millions of travelers save money and navigate trip disruptions with ease. You will work within a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers to scale our business and deliver high-quality features to our partners.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate robust API and full-stack solutions.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to ensure high alignment while operating with significant autonomy.
- Proactively explore and implement engineering improvements for both our product and our internal development processes.
Requirements
- A fearless approach to diving into unknown codebases with a clear focus on delivering results quickly.
- Strong product intuition, where your definition of quality is always anchored in the customer experience.
- Experience with, or a strong willingness to learn, distributed system development using Scala.
- Familiarity with our core tech stack, which includes GCP services for the backend and React with TypeScript for our web frontends.
