We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Hotel team and help shape the future of our travel technology. As the division responsible for 70% of our total revenue, the Hotel team is central to our mission of using data and fintech to make travel more flexible and affordable for millions of users worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Own the planning, investigation, and scoping of high-impact technical projects.
- Design, implement, and deploy sophisticated backend systems that power our global travel platform.
- Mentor team members through pair programming and asynchronous collaboration.
- Write, review, and refine code to ensure our systems remain scalable and reliable.
- Explore new technical concepts and Google Cloud Platform features to drive innovation within our stack.
- Participate in team meetings to coordinate project progress and sprint planning within our low-meeting culture.
Must-haves
- Extensive experience in full-stack development with a strong focus on backend engineering.
- Proficiency in Scala or other JVM languages like Java, with a proven track record in production environments.
- Deep understanding of system architecture and the design of scalable, maintainable solutions.
- Technical expertise in service communication protocols including gRPC, REST, and pub/sub.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform and cloud-native development standards.
- Ability to manage infrastructure deployments using Terraform.
- A history of leading and delivering complex, multi-month engineering projects from inception to production.
- Professional experience within the travel industry and an understanding of its unique technical challenges.
