The role
We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. You will work within our Hopper Technology Solutions group, collaborating with a cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and wants to make a significant impact by delivering high-quality, scalable features for our partners.
Core responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate robust API and full-stack solutions to support our growing travel ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and fellow engineers to ensure alignment while working autonomously in a low-meeting, asynchronous environment.
- Proactively identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance both the product experience and our internal development processes.
Skills and experience
We are looking for a candidate who possesses strong product thinking and a customer-first mindset. You should be comfortable diving into complex codebases and finding creative ways to deliver results quickly. Key requirements include:
- Proficiency in Scala for distributed system development, or a strong willingness to learn and master it.
- Experience working with GCP services to build scalable backend systems.
- Familiarity with TypeScript and React for full-stack integration.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
