As we continue to scale our Hopper Technology Solutions group, we are looking for a talented engineer to help us build a world-class travel booking portal specifically for our partners in the APAC region.
The opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our cross-functional team of engineers, designers, and product managers. In this role, you will be responsible for building new features and supporting our partners to ensure our joint business scales effectively. You will work within an environment that values autonomy, asynchronous decision-making, and high-impact contributions. Our backend systems are primarily written in Scala, and we utilize a suite of GCP services to power our infrastructure. While this is a backend-focused role, you will also interact with our web applications built using React and TypeScript.
A day in the life
- Design, build, and operate robust API and full-stack solutions to support our growing travel portal.
- Collaborate closely with fellow engineers, designers, and product managers to ensure our technical efforts align with our product goals.
- Proactively explore and implement engineering improvements that enhance both our team efficiency and the quality of our product.

You possess a natural ability to dive into unfamiliar codebases with confidence, always keeping the end goal of delivering results in mind. You have strong product instincts and anchor your definition of quality in the actual experience of the customer. You are comfortable working in English and bring the following qualifications to our team:
- Experience with, or a strong willingness to learn, distributed system development using Scala.
- A proven track record of building scalable software solutions.
- The ability to distinguish between tasks that require perfection from the start and those that benefit from an iterative approach.
