Compute Technical Lead at Hex Technologies

We are currently seeking a visionary leader to join our Supernova team, which manages the compute backend that makes these seamless data experiences possible.

The role

We are looking for a Senior Compute Technical Lead to join us on a full-time, remote basis. This is a high-impact position for an experienced engineer who is passionate about backend architecture and performance optimization. You will play a pivotal role in defining how our platform handles complex data operations under the hood, ensuring our users can execute code and queries with maximum efficiency.

Core responsibilities

• Architect and evolve our compute backend to ensure ultra-fast execution by selecting the most effective executors for every query or data operation.
• Develop and refine sophisticated caching strategies to reduce latency and minimize unnecessary round trips to external data warehouses.
• Lead technical initiatives by proposing, designing, and implementing new backend components while mentoring a team of talented engineers to foster technical excellence.

Skills and experience

To succeed in this role, you should bring a deep technical background and a passion for building high-performance tools. Our ideal candidate possesses the following:

• At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with a preference for 2 or more years in a technical lead or management capacity.
• Proficiency with our core technology stack, including Python, SQL, TypeScript, GraphQL, and Kubernetes.
• A meticulous eye for detail and the ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks by analyzing execution logs and system internals.
• Strong communication skills and a proven ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative environment through technical documentation, RFCs, and code reviews.
• A strategic mindset that balances rapid development with long-term engineering quality.

Compensation and benefits

We are committed to providing a competitive total rewards package that reflects your expertise and the value you bring to our team. The salary range for this position is $150,400 - $258,500 USD. In addition to your base salary, we offer the following benefits:
