What you bring
We need a hands-on engineering leader to guide our AI team through every layer of the stack. You will set technical direction, align research experiments with product goals, and deliver polished, full-stack features that raise the bar for AI-assisted analytics. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in the United States, with an expectation of at least two office days each week in San Francisco.
- Lead the team in shipping an industry-leading AI experience for data analytics workflows.
- Define and execute a technical roadmap that optimizes today’s models and architectures while rapidly adopting tomorrow’s advances.
- Build a high-output, high-vision culture that keeps one of Hex’s most strategic teams aligned and inspired.
Requirements
You bring at least eight years of engineering experience, four of those in a management role, and a proven ability to deliver complex, cross-functional projects inside a top-tier product organization. You combine deep technical fluency with large-language-model systems and related infrastructure-TypeScript, React, Apollo GraphQL, Redux, Express, Postgres, Redis, Kubernetes, Python, and AWS-with the product intuition to prioritize the right user workflows. You have experience guiding research initiatives, measuring their impact, and translating findings into production features. Clear, proactive communication helps you keep both technical and non-technical stakeholders aligned on what is being built, when, and why. You are a talent magnet who has hired exceptional engineers and can continue to attract world-class colleagues, and you foster a compassionate, resilient team culture while navigating the pace of cutting-edge AI work.
