The Privacy and Scaling Explorations team at the Ethereum Foundation is currently seeking a senior-level ZK Circuits Engineer to join our mission. We are a specialized research group dedicated to advancing the practical applications of Zero-Knowledge Proofs and scaling solutions. Our work focuses on developing the cryptographic foundations necessary for a robust ecosystem of decentralized applications on Ethereum. We achieve this by conducting pure research, creating proofs of concept, and integrating these primitives into real-world decentralized systems. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to open source collaboration, privacy, and security to help us enhance the reliability of our distributed reputation project.
Key outcomes
- Develop ZK circuits designed to bolster the security, scalability, and overall reliability of distributed systems.
- Collaborate closely with distributed systems engineers to ensure the seamless integration of these circuits into our active projects.
- Maintain high standards of code quality by writing comprehensive tests and thorough documentation for all circuit implementations.
Requirements
- Proven software development expertise using Rust, C, or C++.
- A solid understanding of modern ZKP proving systems, including hands-on experience with libraries such as halo2, Arkworks, or ZK-Garage/PLONK.
- Familiarity with distributed systems and networking libraries like libp2p.
- Strong debugging capabilities and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to team members.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a global, remote, and diverse work environment.
- A resourceful mindset that remains effective when navigating ambiguity and new, cutting-edge technologies.
- Fluency in English.
Compensation
This is a full-time, fully remote position. We offer the flexibility of remote work as a core part of our culture. Please note that this role begins with a three-month probation period, with specific contractual details determined based on your jurisdiction.
