Software Engineer - Data Foundation at Dune

We serve as the industry standard for blockchain data and intelligence, providing trusted insights to institutions, protocols, and analysts worldwide. Our platform delivers structured datasets across more than 130 chains, covering everything from stablecoins and lending to trading and real-world assets. We are proud to support over 1,000 industry leaders, including organizations like Visa, Coinbase, Bloomberg, and the IMF. Our team of approximately 50 people is distributed across Europe and the eastern United States, working together to build open, verifiable data that enables deep research into complex ecosystems. We are backed by premier investors, including Coatue and Union Square Ventures, and we are looking for a senior-level Software Engineer to help us scale our data foundation to meet the demands of the future.

Key outcomes

• Design and develop distributed systems while participating in high-impact architectural decisions.
• Take full ownership of core components within our blockchain data platform, specifically focusing on data ingestion and decoding.
• Solve complex technical challenges related to very large databases, SQL processing, data modeling, and overall systems performance.
• Write high-performance, well-designed code primarily in Kotlin and Go, with additional work in Java and Rust.
• Enhance our internal developer experience by improving integration tests, local test environments, and deployment processes.
• Optimize platform operations by identifying opportunities to automate incident resolution and diagnosis using AI.
• Build and integrate AI agents to further automate our internal workflows.

Requirements

• Strong generalist background with fundamental computer science knowledge, allowing you to adapt quickly to new technologies.
• Experience with or a strong desire to master distributed system design.
• Practical experience with blockchain technology and RPC interactions.
• Proficiency with data lakes and modern formats such as Parquet, Delta, and Iceberg.
• Coding experience in any JVM language, coupled with a commitment to writing testable and clean software.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, as we believe the best results come from effective teamwork.
• Fluency in English.
