Staff Security Engineer, Walrus at Mysten Labs

You will play a vital role in our mission, helping us build secure, scalable systems that bring the next billion users to Web3.

What you'll be doing

• Lead comprehensive security assessments for new Walrus features while identifying systemic risks and developing remediation plans for complex architectural challenges across the Mysten ecosystem.
• Champion a security-by-design culture by collaborating with engineering leadership to prioritize security roadmaps and ensuring security is integrated into the development process from the initial design phase.
• Utilize advanced automation and AI-driven tools to streamline security workflows, allowing you to focus your expertise on high-impact security research and mentoring engineers to set technical standards.

What you'll bring

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in security engineering and a passion for decentralized systems. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• At least 8 years of professional experience in security engineering, with a proven history of performing at a Staff level.
• Deep expertise as a security generalist, with the ability to navigate complex infrastructure, application, and cryptographic security domains.
• Proficiency in building and managing automated security tooling, including the use of static and dynamic analysis to improve security at scale.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence technical direction across cross-functional teams.
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• While not required, experience with distributed systems, decentralized storage, or the Web3 stack is considered a significant plus.
