The Ethereum Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the long-term success of the Ethereum ecosystem. We do not control Ethereum, but we work to allocate resources to critical projects and advocate for the technology globally. Since 2014, we have hosted Devcon, our annual conference that serves as the premier event for the Ethereum community. This year, we are preparing for Devcon 7 in Bangkok, and we are looking for a dedicated individual to help us create an unforgettable experience.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Devcon Volunteer Coordinator to join us on a temporary, mid-level basis. This is a vital role for the success of our upcoming event in November. You will be responsible for the entire volunteer lifecycle, ensuring that our team of 100 to 200 community members is prepared, motivated, and ready to support the conference. While our team operates remotely across various time zones, this position requires travel to Bangkok, Thailand, to execute the event on-site.
What will you do?
- Recruit, train, and manage a large group of 100 to 200 volunteers, including the selection and development of volunteer leads.
- Develop and maintain detailed schedules to ensure all event needs are covered while keeping volunteers motivated and engaged.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all volunteer-related matters, working closely with the broader Devcon team to ensure the event runs smoothly from start to finish.
What makes you a great fit?
To succeed in this role, you should be a natural leader who thrives in high-pressure environments. We are looking for someone with the following qualifications:
- Proven experience managing large groups of people and coordinating complex schedules using tools like spreadsheets.
- Exceptional communication skills, with fluency in English required. Proficiency in Thai or other Southeast Asian languages is considered a significant bonus.
- An ownership mentality and the ability to remain patient and flexible when unexpected issues arise.
- A passion for the Ethereum ecosystem and the ability to work effectively within a multicultural, global team.
- The ability to travel to Thailand from November 7 to November 19, 2024, and the flexibility to work across different time zones.
What's in it for you?
This is a unique opportunity to play a central role in the most prominent event in the blockchain space. Benefits include:
- The opportunity to work in a hybrid environment, combining remote collaboration with on-site event execution.
- The chance to make a tangible impact on the experience of thousands of attendees at Devcon 7.
- Collaborating with a passionate, global team dedicated to open-source technology.
