At Yuga Labs, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the world of web3. From the iconic Bored Ape Yacht Club and CryptoPunks to the immersive world of Otherside, we are dedicated to exploring new frontiers in identity, ownership, and digital utility. Our team has grown from a small group of four to over 100 passionate creators, and we are looking for someone who wants to help us make history. We pride ourselves on being a highly creative, technical group that thrives at the intersection of gaming and web3, and we are looking for a new teammate to help us bring our characters to life.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Technical Artist with a focus on Rigging and Animation to join our remote team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be a key player in creating lifelike, expressive characters for our video games. You will bridge the gap between technical constraints and artistic vision, ensuring our characters not only look incredible but also perform seamlessly within our game engines. This is a chance to influence our animation pipelines and contribute to the high-quality standards that define the Yugaverse.
A day in the life
- You will design, build, and maintain advanced bone-driven facial rigs in Maya that are fully compatible with our runtime requirements.
- You will collaborate closely with our character modeling team to ensure that every rig supports both the artistic vision and the technical performance needs of our games.
- You will develop and refine new technical processes and scripts, using Python to streamline our animation workflows and improve production efficiency.
Who you are
You are a seasoned professional with at least five years of experience in technical art or animation roles within the AAA game industry. You have a deep understanding of anatomy, kinematics, and deformation, and you are comfortable working in a remote environment. Your technical toolkit includes:
- Expertise in Maya, specifically with procedural rigging systems like AdvancedSkeleton5 or mGear.
- Strong proficiency in Python scripting, including PyMEL and PySide or PyQt GUI design.
- A solid grasp of real-time art pipelines, including performance capture integration and blend-tree animation systems.
- Excellent communication skills in English, allowing you to work effectively across diverse, cross-functional teams.
Why you'll love it here
We believe in supporting our team members no matter where they are located, which is why this position is fully remote. We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from 120,000 USD to 150,000 USD, depending on your unique experience and skills. Beyond the compensation, you will be joining a company that values innovation and is actively shaping the future of digital ownership and gaming.
