Engineering Manager, Machine Learning at Overstory

What is this role?

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. In this role, you will lead and support cross-functional teams of approximately 10 machine learning engineers and data scientists. You will be accountable for the technical direction and delivery of your area, ensuring that our product capabilities are both ambitious and well-supported. While this is a leadership position that focuses on building high-performing teams, you will also provide technical guidance to help your team navigate complex challenges.

What will you do?

• Enable your team to operate effectively by fostering a collaborative, cross-functional environment that delivers high-quality machine learning solutions.
• Act as a mentor and coach, providing regular feedback and support to help your team members grow in their careers and reach their professional aspirations.
• Partner closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering leaders to align technical strategies with our broader mission and long-term product goals.

What makes you a great fit?

To be successful in this role, you should have at least 8 years of professional experience building data or machine learning systems, including at least 3 years in a leadership or management capacity. You are a product-minded individual who understands how to drive business impact through technology. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in a high-growth startup environment and possesses the technical depth to challenge decisions and guide teams effectively. You should be proficient in English and have experience working with Python-based workflows.
