At SkyGrid, a Boeing SparkCognition Company, we are on a mission to open the skies for autonomous flight. Based in Austin, Texas, we build high-assurance services that make the safe operation and airspace integration of autonomous aircraft a reality. Our work serves as a vital operational hub for advanced air mobility, where we manage the data, infrastructure, and traffic flow necessary to support seamless air services. We are a team driven by the future of aviation, and we are looking for a leader who shares our passion for transforming how the world moves through the air.
The opportunity
We are searching for an Autonomy Engineering Manager to guide our team of engineers as they define and mature the technologies that will power the UAM and AAM markets. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our technological development strategy, taking concepts from early readiness levels all the way to full productization. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, you will collaborate across functional teams to ensure our autonomy roadmap is both ambitious and achievable.
A day in the life
- You will nurture the growth of our Autonomy division by mentoring team members, defining roles, and leading the hiring process for new engineering talent.
- You will oversee the creation and execution of the Technological Maturation Plan, ensuring that our complex functions are validated from initial design through to final product deployment.
- You will provide regular status updates to leadership, keeping stakeholders informed on our progress through weekly checks and monthly program reviews.
Who you are
You are an experienced leader with a deep technical background and a passion for complex systems. You hold a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. You bring at least 10 years of hands-on experience in developing complex functions, ideally within real-time simulation environments, and at least 5 years of experience in a leadership role. You are fluent in English and possess the following skills:
- Strong proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Matlab/Simulink.
- Deep understanding of MBSE and MBD methodologies.
- Proven ability to build HIL/SIL simulation test environments.
- Expertise in flight planning, conflict detection, and resource allocation.
- An analytical mindset that allows you to decompose and solve intricate problems.
Why you'll love it here
Joining our team means working at the forefront of aerospace innovation. We offer a hybrid work environment that balances the need for collaboration with the flexibility you need to thrive. You will have the chance to make a tangible impact on the future of autonomous flight while working alongside some of the brightest minds in the industry.
