Autonomy Engineer II at Skygrid

SkyGrid, a Boeing and Avathon company, is dedicated to opening the skies for autonomous flight. Based in Austin, Texas, we build high-assurance services that enable the safe operation and airspace integration of autonomous aircraft. As a central hub for advanced air mobility, we manage the infrastructure, data, and traffic services necessary for the future of flight. We are currently seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer II to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. In this role, you will help us design and implement groundbreaking solutions for air traffic management and airspace automation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end development of autonomous air traffic management functions, taking projects from initial concept through to prototype and production-ready states.
• Collaborate closely with our product and systems engineering teams to define functional requirements and design integration interfaces within our core codebase.
• Execute Software-in-the-Loop testing to validate autonomy functions, document results, and drive innovation through research and development in autonomous airspace management.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong analytical mindset and a background in autonomous systems. To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or a related STEM field.
• At least 3 years of experience in autonomy engineering, specifically focused on taking concepts to prototypes.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++ programming.
• Proven experience in algorithm development, vehicle kinematics or dynamics, route planning, and conflict detection and resolution.
• Practical experience with development, integration, and testing within SIL simulation environments.
• A solid understanding of AI, machine learning, or robotics principles.
