Autonomy Engineer at Skygrid

What is this role?

We are seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a hybrid position based in Austin, Texas. In this role, you will help guide the evolution of autonomy systems within a simulation environment and develop the core technologies required to enable Urban Air Mobility operations at scale.

What will you do?

• Take ownership of defining logical architecture and functional interfaces while determining and validating performance requirements for our systems.
• Develop the software necessary for end-to-end testing of autonomous air traffic management functions, guiding them from initial concept through to productization.
• Collaborate closely with systems and software engineers to specify and build the simulation infrastructure needed to support our technology maturation goals.

You are a solution-oriented professional with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to tackle complex, undefined problems. You should have a B.S. in Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related STEM field, with an M.S. or Ph.D. considered a plus. To succeed in this role, you will need the following skills and qualities:

• Significant experience with software development, specifically using Python and C/C++.
• Deep knowledge of mathematical formulations for vehicle dynamics, route planning, and optimization algorithms.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink Model-Based Design and building HIL/SIL simulation environments.
• Familiarity with Cloud technologies, web services, and containerization tools like Docker.
• Experience working within Agile frameworks, including unit testing and test-driven development.
• Strong communication skills in English and the ability to adapt your work to meet project timelines.
