Autonomy Engineering Manager at Skygrid

As a central hub for advanced air mobility, we manage the infrastructure, data, and traffic services that make efficient air travel possible. We are looking for an Autonomy Engineering Manager to join our team in the United States. In this role, you will lead the technical maturation of conflict detection, resolution, and flight planning technologies while managing the talented engineering staff who bring these systems to life.

What you'll be doing

• Define the architecture and performance requirements for our Provider of Services for UAM systems, ensuring all conflict detection and flight planning functions are robust and effective.
• Create and execute comprehensive Technology Maturation Plans, guiding our systems from early research stages through to full productization and final gate reviews.
• Lead, mentor, and grow our autonomy engineering team by hiring top talent, setting clear performance goals, and fostering professional development.

What you'll bring

To be successful in this executive-level position, you should have a strong background in aerospace or a related technical field. We are looking for the following qualifications:

• At least 10 years of hands-on experience developing complex functions, ideally within real-time simulation environments.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership or team management capacity.
• A Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Matlab/Simulink.
• Deep expertise in Model-Based Systems Engineering and Model-Based Design methodologies.
• Proven ability to build Hardware-in-the-Loop and Software-in-the-Loop simulation environments.
• Specific experience designing and verifying conflict detection, resolution, and flight planning algorithms.
• Fluency in English.
• Bonus points if you have familiarity with cloud technologies like AWS, GCP, or Azure, as well as experience in air traffic management or transportation logistics.
