Role at a glance
This full-time Backend Engineer role is open to mid-level engineers and can be performed remotely from anywhere in India. You'll join the ML & AI team at HackerRank, where your work directly supports the systems that help millions of developers showcase their skills and get hired by leading companies.
Your impact
- Design and build the backend services, data pipelines, and internal tools that power our AI Platform and products like Engage, SkillUp, and Plagiarism Detection.
- Develop scalable APIs and distributed systems while collaborating on architecture decisions, code reviews, and performance improvements that keep our platform reliable for thousands of customers.
- Contribute to hiring initiatives and share technical wins that help us grow a high-caliber engineering team.
What you'll need
You bring at least two years of Python web development experience with frameworks such as Django, FastAPI, or Flask, along with a track record of building scalable backend systems and distributed services. You're comfortable creating APIs and internal web applications, and you have hands-on experience with DevOps, MLOps, AWS, CI/CD workflows, and core data engineering tasks like pipeline and infrastructure development. Strong communication skills help you work effectively with stakeholders across the organization, and you're fluent in English.
