What is this role?

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. This is a senior-level position within our instructional product domain. You will work closely with engineering managers and two dedicated product teams to drive technical value. While your primary focus will be on backend development, you should be comfortable working across the full stack to support our goals.

What will you do?

• Design and implement robust backend solutions using Python, Postgres, and AWS Lambda.
• Contribute to the broader evolution of our system architecture and mentor team members on complex design and implementation strategies.
• Collaborate within a product-centric team to weigh technical tradeoffs, assess risks, and deliver incremental value to our users.

• At least 7 years of professional software development experience, with a strong background in API and database design.
• Deep expertise in a modern programming language like Python.
• Experience building and maintaining modern backends on AWS.
• Familiarity with React, JavaScript, and related UI frameworks.
• A proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative development environment while maintaining the versatility to contribute across the entire technology stack.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across various domains.
