Ellevation Education has spent the last 11 years building a platform that supports English Learners in public schools across the United States. With over 1,500 school districts currently using our software, we are a mission-driven team dedicated to helping students reach their full potential, and we are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help us scale our impact.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate within a small, product-centric team to build and maintain instructional software.
- Work across the full stack, utilizing Python and Postgres on the back end and React on the front end.
- Evaluate technical tradeoffs and manage risks while breaking down complex projects into manageable increments.
- Mentor other engineers by modeling strong technical judgment and sharing best practices.
- Communicate technical value effectively to product peers and stakeholders across the organization.
- Participate in a remote, highly collaborative environment with core hours from 10 AM to 4 PM Eastern Time.
Must-haves
- At least 4 years of professional software development experience.
- Deep proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, C#, or similar.
- Practical experience with React, TypeScript, or related UI frameworks.
- A proven track record of success in iterative, fast-paced, and collaborative development environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- A passion for learning new technologies and contributing across the entire stack.
- Fluency in English.
