We are currently embarking on an exciting new initiative to develop a benchmark assessment for students in grades 2 through 12, and we are looking for a passionate leader to help us build the team that will bring this vision to life.

What you bring

As an Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our remote-first organization. You will co-lead a cross-functional team alongside a Product Manager and an Instructional Lead, working to turn strategic goals into reality. Your work will involve utilizing Python, FastAPI, TypeScript, and React to build robust systems. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing direct mentorship and feedback to engineers to support their professional growth and career development.
• Collaborating on technical design and code, ensuring the team balances short-term delivery with long-term system design scalability.
• Advocating for technical investments that improve our infrastructure and development processes.

Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. You should have at least 5 years of software development experience and a minimum of 2 years in a management role. We value individuals who have a strong background in designing and operating complex systems. While we use specific technologies like Python and React, we welcome applicants who possess deep expertise in other backend languages and are eager to apply their skills to our mission. You should be comfortable navigating ambiguity, assessing risks, and weighing technical tradeoffs in a cross-functional setting. A commitment to continuous learning and an ability to foster an inclusive, supportive team culture are essential for success in this position.
