At Xilis, we are driven by a mission to transform cancer care through our proprietary MicroOrganoSphere technology. By creating patient tumor models that maintain the unique biology of the original tumor, we are building a platform that accelerates drug discovery and helps guide the right therapies to the right patients. Our work brings together microfluidics, robotics, and advanced analytics to solve some of the most complex challenges in precision oncology. We are a team founded by an engineer, a physician, and a biologist, and we are looking for passionate individuals to help us scale this impact.
The role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a senior-level position based in the United States. You will play a vital role in enhancing the hardware and software systems that power our revolutionary technology, ensuring our devices operate with the precision and reliability required to advance life-saving cancer research.
Core responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support the device software that powers our MicroOrganoSphere technology.
- Enhance device performance by implementing advanced sensor integration and efficient data collection systems.
- Collaborate closely with our cross-functional hardware engineering and data science teams to build new features and applications that support our functional assays.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in building complex systems and a passion for hardware integration. We require the following qualifications:
- At least 7 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on embedded systems, device drivers, and hardware integration.
- Deep expertise in Python for instrument control and device communication.
- Proficiency with Linux systems and building APIs on AWS.
- A solid understanding of hardware-software integration, including real-time processing and interfacing with sensors, actuators, and PCBs.
- Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and agile development methodologies.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
Compensation and benefits
We believe in supporting our employees both inside and outside of the office. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
- Vision and dental insurance.
- A 401k retirement plan.
- Unlimited vacation time.
- A remote-friendly work environment.
How to apply
If you are excited about the prospect of using your engineering skills to change the future of cancer treatment, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application to join our mission, even if your background does not align perfectly with every requirement listed above. We value diverse perspectives and are eager to connect with anyone who shares our passion for innovation.
