ChainSafe is a premier blockchain research and development firm dedicated to building infrastructure for the decentralized web. We contribute to major ecosystems like Ethereum, Polkadot, and Filecoin while creating innovative tools for gaming, bridging, and decentralized storage. We are currently looking for a Senior Protocol Engineer to join our team on a full-time, remote basis. You will play a vital role in our mission to advance open-source technology by developing and maintaining Gossamer, our Go-based implementation of the Polkadot protocol.
Responsibilities
- Translate complex protocol specifications into high-quality, functional Go code.
- Design, implement, and refactor features for the Polkadot host to ensure it remains robust and compatible with other implementations.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and collaborate closely with team members and other protocol implementation groups to share knowledge.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of professional back-end software development experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on Go programming, idioms, and paradigms.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working within blockchain or highly distributed systems.
- Strong grasp of system design, consensus algorithms, networking models, and broadcast algorithms.
- Familiarity with Rust and a strong desire to learn it, as it is a key part of our ecosystem.
- Experience contributing to open-source software projects and a commitment to writing clean, well-documented code.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, remote-first environment.
