Backend Engineer at Onehouse

At Onehouse, we are on a mission to break down data silos and eliminate platform lock-in. We have built the industry’s most interoperable data lakehouse, a cloud-native managed service powered by Apache Hudi. Our platform allows organizations to ingest data with minute-level freshness and make it available for everything from traditional analytics to real-time machine learning. We are a team of experienced builders who have developed large-scale systems for major enterprises like Uber, Snowflake, and AWS. With $33 million in funding from Greylock and Addition, we are growing rapidly and looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help us create the world's best self-optimizing data platform.

What you'll be doing

• You will design and implement highly scalable, reliable platform services that serve as the backbone for our multi-region cloud microservices.
• You will take full ownership of product features, managing the entire lifecycle from initial design and implementation to deployment and monitoring.
• You will collaborate with our team to build new APIs, database abstractions, and infrastructure tooling while maintaining a high engineering standard for code quality and automated testing.

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you should have at least 6 years of experience as a backend engineer, specifically in developing and operating microservices within distributed environments. We are looking for someone who is self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of balancing feature development with technical debt.

• Strong proficiency in Java, Kubernetes, and gRPC.
• Proven experience deploying and managing applications on global cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Operational expertise in monitoring, testing, and maintaining microservice architectures.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively in an English-speaking environment.
