The role
We are looking for an undergraduate student to join us as an Application Security Engineer Intern. This is a 12-week internship designed for students currently pursuing a degree in Information Security or a related field. You will have the flexibility to work from our San Diego or San Mateo offices, or you may choose to work fully remote. We are seeking candidates who can commit to a 12-week period during either the May to August or June to September windows.
Core responsibilities
- Collaborate with our engineering and leadership teams to integrate security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Perform hands-on security testing and penetration testing to proactively identify and mitigate vulnerabilities in our products and services.
- Manage the lifecycle of vulnerabilities identified through SAST, SCA, and DAST tools, guiding our developers from the initial triage phase through to final remediation.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should have a strong interest in information security and a desire to learn in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with an expected graduation date by Spring 2026.
- Foundational knowledge of penetration testing and core security principles.
- A basic understanding of software development, including the ability to read code to spot potential security flaws.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively partner with technical teams and provide clear guidance on security issues.
- Eligibility to work in the United States, including U.S. citizens and international students holding an F-1 visa.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a competitive hourly pay rate for this internship, ranging from $86,000 to $104,000 annually, adjusted for the duration of the program. Beyond your compensation, you will enjoy:
