Instrumental helps the world’s most admired electronics brands, such as Bose, Cisco, and SolarEdge, build better hardware by driving manufacturing efficiencies. We are looking for a Mid-Level QA Engineer to join our growing team as the second member of our quality assurance function, where you will help us solve a massive twelve trillion dollar problem in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive test specifications and methodologies for our hardware, edge computing stack, and customer-facing web applications.
- Partner directly with product and engineering teams to ensure quality is integrated into every phase of the development lifecycle.
- Build deep empathy for our customers by engaging with them to understand their challenges and translating those insights into actionable product improvements.
- Spearhead our test automation efforts to improve overall coverage and operational efficiency.
- Participate in product, UX, and engineering design sessions to advocate for quality concerns from the very beginning of a project.
- Flag potential issues and user experience concerns, even when the product is technically functioning according to the initial specifications.
Must-haves
- At least 3 years of professional experience in QA for web or mobile applications.
- Proven ability to write and execute test cases that align with business and project priorities.
- Experience working within a Linux environment.
- Proficiency with data-driven applications, including the ability to perform basic SQL queries and utilize scripting languages like Python or shell.
- Experience testing data analysis and visualization software, including the ability to write statistical calculations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced startup environment where you can adapt to evolving challenges.
- Authorization to access information subject to U.S. export control restrictions.

- Prior experience testing hardware components.
- Previous experience with test automation frameworks and tools.
