We are looking for a Journalist in Residence to help scale our Build Better brand, which serves as the premier knowledge hub for the electronics manufacturing industry. Instrumental partners with industry leaders like Bose, Cisco, and SolarEdge to reduce manufacturing waste through AI-driven insights, and we need a talented storyteller to help us become the definitive voice in this space.

Responsibilities

Identify and pitch timely, compelling content ideas that resonate with VPs of engineering and operations.
Develop and execute a strategic content plan while remaining agile enough to cover breaking industry developments.
Build and maintain a professional network of sources to support high-quality interviews and investigative pieces.
Produce authoritative, knowledge-first content for print, web, and other media formats that avoids traditional marketing fluff.
Collaborate with our marketing team, subject matter experts, and leadership to drive organic audience growth.

Must-haves

Deep fluency in the electronics manufacturing industry, specifically regarding high-volume consumer, B2B, networking, and defense sectors.
Proven ability to write high-quality, direct prose that maintains credibility with technical audiences.
Strong networking skills to identify and engage sources for original reporting.
A sharp instinct for identifying story ideas that capture the current industry zeitgeist.
Professional proficiency in English.

Nice-to-haves

An engineering background or formal training in engineering.
Previous professional experience as a journalist covering the electronics supply chain.
Experience as a founder within the hardware industry.

Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $145,000, with final compensation determined by your specific experience and skills.
