At Finom, we are on a mission to reshape the financial world for entrepreneurs. Headquartered in Amsterdam, our team is building an all-in-one B2B platform that blends banking, accounting, and invoicing into a single, mobile-first experience. We are growing rapidly, backed by significant investment from partners like General Catalyst, and we are currently expanding our footprint across major European markets. We believe in fostering a culture where bold ideas are encouraged and every team member has the autonomy to make a real, lasting impact on our product and our users.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Merchant Acquiring Fraud Analyst to join our Second Line of Defence team. This role is a vital part of our Financial Crime Risk Management function, where you will report to the Fraud Risk Manager and focus specifically on the card acquiring side of our ecosystem. You will act as a guardian of our platform, identifying and mitigating risks like merchant abuse and transaction laundering while ensuring our fraud controls are effective, balanced, and scalable. You will not just be monitoring systems. You will be a key partner in building our fraud risk framework and ensuring we maintain a secure environment without creating unnecessary friction for our customers.
A day in the life
- You will analyze internal data and external industry trends to identify emerging fraud risks, translating these patterns into clear, actionable scenarios for our team.
- You will collaborate closely with our product, engineering, and machine learning teams to tune fraud rules, validate controls, and ensure our systems remain ahead of potential threats.
- You will provide independent oversight of first-line decisions, acting as a strategic partner who challenges assumptions and helps us refine our internal policies and training materials.
Who you are
You are a motivated professional with at least two years of experience in merchant risk, acquiring fraud strategy, or payment processor risk management. You possess a solid understanding of the payments ecosystem, including chargeback mechanics and card scheme monitoring programs. You are comfortable working with large datasets, and your proficiency with SQL and BI tools will be a significant advantage. Because we value a collaborative approach, you should be able to explain complex risks in simple, business-friendly terms. You are fluent in English, and you are ready to work remotely from Spain, Poland, Cyprus, or the Netherlands.
Why you'll love it here
We believe in supporting your growth and well-being as much as we value your professional contributions. When you join us, you will enjoy a range of benefits designed to help you thrive:
- Remote work flexibility that allows you to work from anywhere within our supported locations.
- Access to our Stock Options program, giving you a real stake in our collective success.
- Dedicated resources for your professional development to ensure you are always learning.
- A strong commitment to work-life balance, including our unique Work and Swim program that lets you spend time working from a corporate apartment in Cyprus.
