ABOUT THE ROLE

Develop and build products that provide an exceptional customer experience for our members from the architecture through the frontend experiences in a technical stack primarily consisting of Java Spring Boot, React, GraphQL, AWS, Kafka, DynamoDB

Help develop, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff

An opportunity to both build new products and take them from 0 to 1 while also implementing new features on existing products

Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including QA, deployment and bug-fixing and production support including managing and participating in a 24/7 production pager for critical issues

Collaborate with team to architect, build, and document products that improve our members’ lives

Understand the tradeoffs inherent in software development

ABOUT YOU

8+ years of professional experience with full-lifecycle software development

2+ years managing a team of engineers in a team lead or direct manager fashion

We have React, Node, Java, and Python in our stack and require solid demonstrable skill in two or more languages: Javascript, Java, Scala, Ruby, Python, C#, C/C++, etc. (we have a language agnostic interview process)

Experience developing and integrating with public API's

Successfully implemented a microservice-based architecture as part of system build out, ideally, both REST, RPC, and event-driven architectures deployed to a cloud environment like AWS, Google Cloud, Azure

Strong hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases with at least one SQL and one NoSQL variant, e.g. Postgres, MySQL, Mongo, Cassandra, DynamoDB

Solid experience with quality processes, such as test-driven/behavior-driven development (TDD/BDD)

Strong experience with Agile and Lean software engineering methodologies and ability to mentor others in these practices

Adaptable and willing to wear the hat of a partial product manager or have experience as a product manager

Development of high volume consumer facing mission-critical sites, systems, or processes

Experience with financial systems or Loan Origination Systems

React web and React-Native app development

Comfortable using the Atlassian stack (i.e. JIRA, Confluence, etc.)

Worked with and managed both full-time engineers as well as nearshore and offshore contractors
