We are currently looking for a Sr. Controls System Engineer to join our team as we advance our innovative Boron Neutron Capture Therapy system. This technology represents a significant step forward in cancer treatment, and you will play a central role in designing, programming, and implementing the National Instruments systems that power our hardware. You will be working at the intersection of biotechnology and engineering, helping us build robust solutions for automation, real-time control, and complex data acquisition.
Key outcomes
- Collaborate with a diverse, multi-disciplinary team to build and support our BNCT control infrastructure.
- Travel to various installation sites to oversee system deployment, perform commissioning, and handle troubleshooting.
- Create internal software tools designed to streamline our team's daily workflows.
- Author comprehensive test procedures to validate the performance of various system components.
- Maintain accurate records of product changes within our lifecycle management systems.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related physics field. We require at least four years of hands-on experience in embedded control system design and advanced LabVIEW programming within industrial or research settings. You should be comfortable working with National Instruments hardware, including PXI, RIO, and FPGA architectures, and have a solid grasp of real-time, fail-safe fault detection.
Your technical background must include:
- Proficiency in embedded system design, including microprocessors, FPGAs, and IC electronics.
- Experience with Windows and RT Linux environments using NI hardware like PXIe and cRIO.
- A strong understanding of electrical principles, high voltage systems, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Experience with SQL databases and software revision control systems.
- Familiarity with project management and documentation tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
- The ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 20 percent of the time.
Preferred qualifications
We value candidates who bring additional expertise in high-voltage and high-power system integration. It is a plus if you have experience programming safety-critical systems or working with C, C++, or C# languages. We also look favorably upon those who hold professional LabVIEW certifications, such as a Certified LabVIEW Developer or Certified LabVIEW Embedded Developer status.
Compensation
We offer a flexible hybrid work environment that allows for a balance between in-office collaboration and remote tasks.
How to apply
If you are interested in contributing to the future of cancer treatment technology, please submit your application through our portal. We look forward to reviewing your background and discussing how your skills can support our mission.
