The opportunity
We are searching for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our agile platform team. You will play a vital role in enhancing the reliability, security, and performance of our infrastructure while driving the efficiency of our engineering department. This is a unique chance to shape our technical roadmap and ensure that our platform remains a robust engine for social good. You will work in a remote-first environment, collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to solve complex challenges and move our mission forward.
A day in the life
- You will design and implement improvements to our platform infrastructure, with a heavy focus on automation, scalability, and observability.
- You will manage and refine our development tools, including our CI/CD pipelines and local environment configurations, to ensure the team can ship high-quality code efficiently.
- You will oversee the administration of our AWS and Linux-based production systems, ensuring that our infrastructure remains secure and compliant while optimizing costs.
Who you are
You are a self-motivated engineer who balances a drive for perfection with the pragmatic need to ship in a fast-paced environment. You communicate clearly, value collaboration, and are always ready to learn from your peers. To be successful in this role, you should bring the following experience:
- At least 7 years of experience with Python and 3 years of experience with Django.
- Deep expertise in administering and automating AWS services like ECR, EC2, ECS, RDS, and S3, alongside Linux VM management.
- Strong proficiency with Docker for both local development and deployment workflows.
- Hands-on experience with SQL database administration and query optimization.
- Proven ability to manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and familiarity with Ansible.
- Experience with CI/CD automation and monitoring application performance.
- A background in contributing to user-facing web applications, ideally with familiarity in Vue or similar modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Fluency in English and a comfort level working within a distributed, remote-first team.
Why you'll love it here
We offer a compensation range of $101,000 to $135,000, depending on your experience and location. Beyond the salary, we are committed to supporting your well-being and professional growth through a variety of benefits:
- A fully remote work environment, complete with a stipend to help you set up your home office.
- Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental insurance.
- A 401k plan to help you plan for your future.
- Dedicated professional development funds to help you sharpen your skills.
- Unlimited PTO, including time off specifically for volunteering.
