About the Role

We are hiring a Distinguished Engineer on a full-time basis. This senior position reports directly to our CEO and serves as the technical voice at the executive table. You will shape long-term engineering strategy, guide architectural decisions, and ensure our technology consistently supports ambitious business goals across a global, internet-scale platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering and product leaders to craft a technical vision that aligns with Gemini’s business objectives and positions us for future growth.
• Provide hands-on architectural oversight and mentorship, establishing best practices that raise quality, reliability, and security across all products.
• Represent Gemini’s technical direction externally at conferences and internally to non-technical stakeholders, translating complex concepts into clear guidance for the executive team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• At least fifteen years of software-development experience at a leading technology company, including deep expertise in software architecture and the design of large-scale, geo-distributed systems.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming and development technologies, coupled with a proven record of technical leadership and strategic thinking.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement throughout engineering teams.

Location

This role is open to candidates located anywhere, with hybrid expectations for those living within thirty miles of our New York City or Seattle offices.

Compensation and Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $309,000 – $386,000. In addition to salary, we offer a discretionary annual bonus, a new-hire equity grant, comprehensive health plans, a 401k plan with company matching, paid parental leave, flexible time off, and our hybrid work policy.
