The role
We are hiring a Senior Designer to join the Customer Projects Team on a full-time, remote basis. The position is open to candidates located in the Americas time zones. You will work closely with enterprise clients to deliver custom design solutions while also contributing to the broader open-source community.
Core responsibilities
- Partner with enterprise clients on 16- and 40-hour customization packages, translating their brand guidelines into functional themes and components.
- Collaborate with Customer Success Managers to set design priorities, manage expectations, and deliver work that meets client needs.
- Maintain existing client themes, implement large batches of design updates, and, during slower periods, create new open-source themes that benefit the wider Discourse community.
Skills and experience
- Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with experience using a JavaScript framework such as EmberJS.
- Hands-on experience with design tools like Figma or Sketch and the ability to interpret and apply brand guidelines accurately.
- Previous experience working directly with clients, excellent written communication skills, and comfort working independently in a remote environment.
- Experience building themes for Discourse is preferred but not required.
