We are AM Batteries, a company based in Billerica, Massachusetts, dedicated to transforming how batteries are made. Our mission is to commercialize technologies that make battery manufacturing both greener and more cost-effective. We are currently working to become a leading global provider of turn-key equipment for battery cell manufacturers, and we would love for you to join our team as we scale our operations.

What is this role?

We are looking for a mid-level Controls Engineer to join us on a full-time, on-site basis. In this position, you will play a vital role in industrializing our next-generation lithium-ion battery manufacturing technology. You will work closely with our mechanical and process engineering teams to design, implement, and troubleshoot the control systems that power our custom equipment.

What will you do?

  • Take ownership of hardware selection and software development for the control systems used in our custom-designed machinery.
  • Build and manage SCADA and data architecture to handle our process, product, and analytical data pipelines.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure our manufacturing equipment is robust, efficient, and ready for high-volume production.

What makes you a great fit?

To succeed in this role, you should have a strong background in industrial automation and a passion for solving complex technical problems. We value candidates who can communicate effectively and work well both independently and in a team setting. You will need the following skills and qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience with industrial controls, automation, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation tasks.
  • Experience working with SQL databases for data storage and retrieval.
  • A solid understanding of industrial control networks, field devices, and communication protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with SCADA platforms, preferably Ignition, and HMI development.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering field.
  • Fluency in English to facilitate clear communication with our internal and external stakeholders.

What's in it for you?

We offer a supportive environment where your contributions directly impact the future of green energy. Our benefits package is designed to support your health and long-term financial well-being, including:

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life insurance coverage.
  • A 401k retirement plan.
  • Employee stock options.
