Role / Team Overview

Coupang is looking for a Business Development Director to lead the new partner acquisition effort for our Coupang Partners program. Coupang Partners is the largest affiliate program in South Korea. Starting in 2018 as an ordinary affiliate program to drive  traffic and sales, it has grown as a massive growth engine for the business driving billions of dollars annually while allowing partners to effectively monetize. We have built the program ground up including the technical platform that today hosts a massive number of partners ranging from top apps and web publishers to influencers and bloggers. However, we are still in the early stage of growing our partner network, and we’re looking for a seasoned business development professional to take our partner acquisition effort to the next level.

The role is for a BD leader who will define the strategic vision by identifying opportunities to grow and nurture our partner network and putting a structure in the acquisition process, driving the growth of our business while giving back ad revenue to our partner publishers. This person would have an opportunity to manage and coach talented business development professionals.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

  • Research and identify potential targets, systematically grouping and prioritizing based on data
  • Attract new partners and create positive, long-lasting relationships with current and potential partners
  • Innovate and oversee our sales pitch process for scaling opportunities
  • Communicate with potential partners to understand their needs and offer products and solutions to their problems
  • Develop proposals based on specific needs of business and prepare and deliver pitches and presentations to potential partners
  • Closely partner with Product teams to identify opportunities for new product offerings to potential partners
  • Negotiate contract terms with prospective partners and communicate with internal stakeholders
  • Gather and analyze useful market information from customer and competitor data to stay abreast of advertising / monetization industry trend
  • Collaborate with Account Management team to properly manage existing partners
  • Report to Senior Leadership on the progress of our overall acquisition effort

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 10+ years of Business Development, Supply Acquisition, or Ad Sales
  • Understanding of ad tech and publisher industry in Korea
  • Be self-motivated, confident, energetic, and creative.
  • Work well autonomously and be at the same time a good collaborative team player.
  • Track record of managing large account portfolios
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep experience in DSPs, large scale monetization platforms and Ad networks
  • Experience of working in large scale Ad Tech companies or Affiliate networks.
  • Experience of working in e-commerce companies
  • Experience using analytical, sales, and productivity tools such as SalesForce, Marketo
  • Experience of working with product managers and engineers to solve customer problems and devise solutions
  • Exceptional data-analysis and presentation skills
  • English Language Fluency
