Backend Engineer at Raya

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our team remotely and help us build a community rooted in trust, creativity, and reciprocity.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of key core services, including our people recommendation engines.
• Optimize application performance and reliability using databases like PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch.
• Partner with cross-functional teams, including UX designers and data scientists, to deliver user-focused solutions.
• Drive the full software development life cycle while maintaining high standards for scalability and innovation.
• Advocate for top-tier user experiences by utilizing data-driven methodologies and feedback loops.
• Stay current with our evolving tech stack to ensure our systems remain maintainable and cutting-edge.

Must-haves

• At least 6 years of hands-on experience in modern software development, with a proven ability to deliver scalable systems.
• Expertise in system design and architecture.
• Mastery of at least one programming language, such as JavaScript, Golang, Python, or C++.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, though professional experience may be substituted.
• Strong collaborative skills with a focus on transparency and open communication.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience or interest in integrating ML/AI models into production software.
• Familiarity with frameworks like Node.js.
• Proficiency with Git for version control.
• Experience with cloud platforms and containerization tools like Docker.
