At Interstellar Lab, we are dedicated to creating a future where life flourishes both on our planet and in the stars. We believe that technology should empower humanity to live in balance with nature, fostering biodiversity and enabling life to become multi-planetary. To achieve this, we engineer autonomous biospheric systems that optimize plant growth through precision, whether on Earth or in space. Our AI-driven BioPods and BioCapsules utilize advanced bioscience to support high-value plant production, serving industries ranging from pharmaceuticals to beauty. By collaborating with space agencies and private partners, we are developing the biofarming infrastructure necessary for long-duration space missions and groundbreaking life science research.
The role
We are looking for a Junior UI/UX Designer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis in France. This is an entry-level position where you will play a vital role in defining the digital identity and user experience of BioApp, the platform we use to monitor and manage our complex biofarming hardware. You will collaborate daily with our scientists, engineers, and fellow designers to create interfaces that are as functional as they are intuitive.
Core responsibilities
- Design and refine user interfaces for both web and mobile versions of BioApp to ensure a seamless experience.
- Manage and organize our Figma workspace to maintain design consistency across all internal teams.
- Map out user flows and interaction logic to ensure that operating our systems is efficient and straightforward.
Skills and experience
To be successful in this role, you should possess a strong foundation in design principles and a passion for technology. We are looking for the following qualifications:
- A degree in UI/UX Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, or a related field.
- Between one and three years of professional experience, ideally within a tech or science-focused organization.
- A compelling portfolio that showcases your visual sensibility and commitment to user-centered design.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, including experience with components and prototyping.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and HTML/CSS, along with an understanding of responsive design.
- Fluency in French and professional proficiency in English.
Compensation and benefits
Interstellar Lab is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
How to apply
If you are excited about the prospect of designing the interface for the future of space and earth-based biofarming, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your application, including your portfolio, to our team for review.
