At Readyset, we are transforming how applications handle data by building a database cache that requires zero integration effort. By simply swapping a connection string, our users can reduce read latencies from hundreds of milliseconds to under a millisecond while cutting costs. Our technology precomputes results for parameterized SQL queries and keeps them updated in real time as the underlying database changes. We are wire-compatible with MySQL and Postgres, allowing developers to build performant applications that scale globally without changing their existing code. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our fully remote team as we push the boundaries of distributed systems and data research.

What is this role?

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join us on a full-time basis. This is a lead-level position where you will play a central role in designing and operating the infrastructure that powers the next generation of AI-native cloud systems. You will work within our Cloud and AI team to build production-grade solutions for data-intensive products, ensuring that our systems remain responsive, reliable, and cost-effective at scale.

What will you do?

• Design and own critical services, focusing on hands-on development of scalable, robust systems that are easy to operate in production.
• Lead high-impact architectural decisions that balance rapid development with the engineering rigor required for high availability.
• Collaborate across the stack, working on everything from distributed cloud infrastructure to AI-driven features like retrieval pipelines, memory systems, and agent orchestration.

What makes you a great fit?

You are a seasoned engineer with over 10 years of experience, particularly in databases, data platforms, or large-scale distributed systems. You have a proven track record of running cloud services at scale and are comfortable navigating the complexities of AI and ML integration. We value technical leadership and the ability to guide teams through intricate design challenges. You should be proficient in backend development using languages such as Python, Golang, Java, or Rust, and possess deep familiarity with AWS. Most importantly, you share our mindset of moving with velocity while maintaining sound engineering standards.
