Sr. Software Engineer, Fullstack/Backend at Carbon Robotics

What you bring

We are looking for a Senior Fullstack/Backend Software Engineer to join our full-time, on-site team in the United States. In this role you will spend roughly 75 percent of your time designing and scaling backend services and 25 percent building the related frontend features that deliver critical insights to farmers worldwide. You will collaborate daily with software, mechanical, and electrical engineers to create reliable AI and robotics products that solve real problems in the global food supply. Three main responsibilities include partnering with engineering and product teams to develop labeling, monitoring, and data-analysis services; building and troubleshooting cloud applications that support continuous machine-learning pipelines; and maintaining scalable services that provide remote monitoring and geospatial visibility for our global fleet of robots. The position is based in the United States and may occasionally require travel to customer farms to ensure product reliability and safety.

Requirements

Success in this role calls for proven experience designing and operating services and distributed systems, either on physical hardware or in the cloud. Candidates should bring at least five years of hands-on programming with Python, TypeScript/React, and Go, along with strong proficiency in REST or gRPC web services and both relational databases such as MySQL, Postgres, or SQLite and non-relational stores such as Redis. A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field is required. Effective verbal and written communication skills and a genuine interest in working within multidisciplinary teams are essential. Experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms, observability tools such as Prometheus, and deep-learning pipelines is advantageous. The ideal candidate is practical, decisive, and comfortable driving projects from planning through execution in a fast-paced environment where novel problems are the norm.

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $140,000–$210,000 USD.
