The Opportunity
Our design and creative team is growing and we're looking for a Sr. Web Designer to join us in our mission to help people get their best sleep. This role will be instrumental in building out a state of the art web presence as we expand our focus towards direct product and subscription sales. As our Sr. Web Designer, you will lead the creative vision for Hatch.co, including how new products are launched and promoted, how we seamlessly integrate brand and performance goals, and how our web design system is developed to more quickly test and iterate in partnership with our stellar dev team.
You will be joining Hatch’s world class, cross-functional design community; spanning product, research, hardware, brand, marketing creative, and audio content. We believe the beautifully designed products we are building deserve a beautiful + brand forward web experience, and are looking for a talented designer looking to push the boundaries of how we capture people’s hearts and imaginations as they navigate our site. In addition to design and marketing, your work will include collaborating with our Growth team to drive demand through testing and iteration.
Join our growing team as we dream up new experiences that help people reclaim their rest, and work to define the sleep space as an essential part of overall health and wellness. This role will report to the Head of Design.
This person must be based in the United States or Canada. Hatch is based out of California, so this role would be asked to be available during PST/PDT hours.
What You’ll Do
Within 3 Months:
- Build a solid understanding of our device ecosystem, the science of sleep, and our current brand & visual design language.
- Form strong collaborative relationships across our design, engineering, growth, product, and marketing teams.
- Capture a set of opportunities to level up our web presence, considering the balance of brand and performance.
- Take ownership of our web design system and assess what is working and what needs improvement.
Within 6 Months:
- Lead the process to design the product landing pages for a new product launch.
- Work closely with Product, Growth and Marketing teams to develop our website strategy, designing and testing new home and landing pages.
- Continually update our web design system to incorporate learnings and feedback.
After 1 Year:
- Act as the go to resource for all design questions related to our web presence.
- Lead the charge on design initiatives for web from start to finish
- Own research and solution-findings as well as preparing files for development handoff
- Collaborate across Design, Dev, Growth, Product, and Marketing teams to launch new products, and develop new approaches to storytelling and communication across our site.
- Actively contribute to infusing creativity, play, and learning into our team culture.
What You’ll Bring
- Passion for state of the art web experiences that seamlessly blend performance and brand.
- 5+ years of web UX/UI experience with a strong portfolio showcasing your abilities and imagination.
- Significant experience using core design tools (Figma and Adobe CS) and an appreciation for front end code and component based web development (React and NextJS).
- Strong storytelling and communication skills.
- Experience utilizing insights, performance feedback, and your strong design sensibilities to transform customer needs and business goals into engaging and polished designs.
- A deep understanding of color, space, typography, iconography, illustration and communication design best practices
- Excitement about building a strong design culture within a fast-paced startup environment.
