We are currently helping a prominent US-based residential design and engineering firm find a talented professional to join their fully remote, process-driven team. This firm specializes in supporting home builders and house-plan platforms across the country, and they are looking for someone who can help them maintain their high standards for construction documentation.
About the Role
We are searching for a Senior Structural Drafter to join the team on a full-time basis. In this position, you will take ownership of the production and quality of residential architectural and structural drawings. You will work independently to manage your tasks while collaborating closely with engineers to ensure that our collective output meets the highest standards of excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently create comprehensive sets of residential architectural and structural drawings, including foundations, floor and roof framing, and detailed structural sections.
- Translate engineer markups, design intent, and technical notes into precise construction documents.
- Review all work for accuracy and constructability while resolving complex drafting conflicts to ensure compliance with company standards.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
- At least 5 to 10 years of professional experience specifically in residential drafting.
- Advanced proficiency using AutoCAD, with additional experience in Revit considered a significant advantage.
- A deep, practical understanding of wood-framed residential construction methods.
- Strong technical skills regarding material specifications, detailing, and the ability to interpret redlines effectively.
- Excellent time-management skills and an eye for detail, with bonus points for familiarity with US residential codes and materials like structural steel, ICF, or reinforced concrete.
