The opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our remote-first SaaS team and help shape the future of our product. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll play a central role in designing and building new features, improving existing functionality, and creating internal tools that directly support our customers. You’ll work within an Agile team alongside engineers, product managers, and QA, taking ownership of major initiatives from concept through to production. This role gives you the chance to influence both the technical direction and the day-to-day experience of the teams and customers who rely on Proton.

A day in the life

• You’ll independently develop backend and frontend code for new features, guiding the product team on technical tradeoffs and delivering value from idea to live release.
• You’ll collaborate daily with engineers, product managers, designers, and QA in an agile environment, contributing to planning, reviews, and continuous improvement of our processes.
• You’ll help strengthen our infrastructure by working with the infrastructure team on enhancements to development, staging, and production environments, always with a focus on quality, performance, and reliability.

Who you are

You bring at least three years of experience building and deploying scalable SaaS applications in modern agile environments, along with a strong track record of making sound product and system decisions. You have three or more years of hands-on work with a modern frontend framework, preferably Vue.js, and three or more years of mobile development experience, ideally with React Native. You’re comfortable with cloud-native concepts such as databases, scalability, and security, and you follow secure coding practices suited to enterprise customers. You enjoy staying current with new technologies, comparing frameworks and tools to choose the best fit for each use case, and you communicate complex ideas clearly across teams. Experience with enterprise applications is a plus, and you value working closely with cross-functional colleagues to deliver reliable, high-quality software.

Our current stack includes Vue.js with Nuxt.js, Docker and Kubernetes for deployment, and React Native 0.73 for mobile. While these tools are central to our work, we welcome engineers who are eager to learn and grow into any areas that are new to them.

This role requires fluency in English and is open to candidates located anywhere.
