At Phaidra, we are building the future of industrial automation. Many of the world's critical facilities, such as power plants and factories, rely on outdated, hard-coded controls that prevent them from adapting to their environments. We are changing that by creating AI-powered control systems that allow these facilities to learn and improve automatically. Our team is composed of experts who have tackled some of the most challenging problems in the field, from optimizing cooling in data centers to achieving superhuman performance in complex games. We value transparency, collaboration, ownership, and empathy, and we are looking for someone who shares these principles to join our fully remote, global team.
What is this role?
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join us on a full-time basis. This is a pivotal role where you will help lay the technical foundation for our new Control Plane team. You will be responsible for defining the services, APIs, and processes that orchestrate our core customer-facing products. We are looking for an experienced engineer who is comfortable working in a remote environment and is ready to take ownership of significant parts of our codebase while guiding the team as we grow.
What will you do?
- Design and lead the technical vision for a new Control Plane team, focusing on usability, orchestration, and the integration of services that allow users to trigger actions on our AI workloads.
- Build and maintain robust backend solutions by writing REST and gRPC API services and scalable, event-driven applications.
- Take an active role in production operations, including CI/CD management and participating in our global on-call rotation to ensure operational excellence.
What makes you a great fit?
You are a bold, creative problem solver with at least 6 years of experience in software engineering. You have a deep understanding of the tradeoffs involved in different technologies and are eager to share that knowledge with your peers. To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Strong expertise in Python and experience working within cloud environments.
- A solid background in designing and implementing microservices, event-driven systems, and large-scale multi-tenant architectures.
- Experience with modern infrastructure tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GCP.
- The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in an all-remote, English-speaking setting.
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
What's in it for you?
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes equity and a salary range based on your location. For residents of the United States, the base salary is $114,400 to $206,400 per year. For those in the UK, the range is £93,600 to £140,400 per year, and for Canada, it is CA$140,000 to CA$210,000 per year.
Beyond compensation, you will enjoy a variety of perks designed to support your work and well-being:
- A fully remote work environment with a digital nomad policy.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Professional development opportunities and training.
- A home office setup budget and a stipend for coworking spaces.
- Unlimited paid time off, with a minimum requirement of 20 days per year.
