Started by former Xbox game designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s founder Matthew Inman, Exploding Kittens and its family of games seek to reshape traditional game night into an entertaining person-to-person experience. Today, there are over 30 games available for purchase, an exclusive Exploding Kittens mobile game for Netflix subscribers, a free-to-play app, Kitty Letter, and an Exploding Kittens mobile app available iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch as well as an animated Netflix series titled ‘Exploding Kittens’ currently out now! Are you that paid social media expert that gets a rush every time you find a winning Meta or TikTok ad that you can map back to real revenue? Do you equally love creative analysis and perfect budget pacing? Exploding Kittens is seeking a senior-level, freelance paid social media lead to help us optimize and scale our program.

In this freelance role, you will have the opportunity to shape and spearhead our paid social efforts on TikTok, Meta, and other emerging channels. Working closely with marketing leadership and weighing in on process, you will help create and optimize a program that drives meaningful sales ROI. You must have direct experience running a paid social advertising program for retail-driven CPG brands focused on driving in-store sales, with a strong preference for Toy and Game experience specifically.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE:

Strategy Development and Implementation: Drive the development and implementation of social media advertising strategies that align with our marketing and business goals on Meta, TikTok and other potential emerging channels

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with our creative team to ensure development of engaging ad content that captures the spirit of our games, tailored for each platform, as well as the amplification of top-performing content

Budget Management: Oversee and optimize social media budgets by SKU, platform and advertising objective, ensuring we maximize ROI and meet our larger business goals

Performance Analysis and Optimization: Closely monitor performance on all channels, making optimizations and recommendations and proactively escalating areas of opportunity. Track and analyze all relevant KPIs to measure success and inform strategy. The ability to create and adhere to an effective process to track and measure your efforts is critical

WHAT WE NEED:

4-6 years of proven experience managing social media advertising programs, specifically for retail-driven CPG brands. Direct experience with toy and game brands is highly preferred. Please note we will not be accepting candidates with only D2C experience for this role.

Availability to devote at least 20 hours per week to this role and attend team meetings

Expert command of Meta and TikTok advertising, including channel-specific creative formats and best practices as well as platform-level metrics and reporting tools. YouTube, X and Reddit experience a plus.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions to drive improvements.

Experience with POS aggregator tools (e.g., Tableau) to analyze real-time sales data and measure the impact of marketing initiatives.

Demonstrated success in managing substantial budgets and delivering impactful campaigns.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly regarding the intersection of creative strategy and social media advertising
