Ready to shape the future of investing through world-class design? At Wealthfront we’re redefining how millions of people build long-term wealth, and we’re looking for a design leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, craft, and team development.
Role at a glance
We’re hiring a Senior Design Director to lead our Investing and Design Systems teams. This is a full-time, executive-level role that can be performed from anywhere in the United States.
Your impact
- Guide the vision and roadmap for next-generation investing products such as our Automated Index Investing Account, Stock Investing Account, and Automated Bond Ladders, turning complex financial concepts into simple, delightful experiences.
- Raise the quality bar across the company by evolving our Design System-its components, patterns, accessibility standards, and tooling-so every designer and engineer ships faster while maintaining elegance and consistency.
- Partner with product, engineering, research, data science, legal, and compliance leaders to identify high-impact opportunities, then coach and grow senior designers who turn those opportunities into shipped work that moves the business.
What you'll need
You bring at least ten years of product-design experience in consumer software and four or more years leading design teams embedded in cross-functional product groups. You know when to dive deep into details and when to step back to set a clear vision that inspires others. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills let you align stakeholders, run effective workshops, and translate strategy into prioritized roadmaps that ship. You’ve hired and developed diverse teams, fostered inclusive cultures where debate is welcomed, and helped designers grow through coaching in UX methods, storytelling, prototyping, and design principles. A genuine curiosity about fintech and investing is essential; experience building modern financial products is a plus.
Perks and compensation
The estimated annual salary for this role is $295,000 USD, plus equity and a discretionary bonus. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental insurance, a 401(k) plan, generous time off, parental leave, wellness reimbursements, professional development support, an employee investing discount, and more.
