The opportunity

We are searching for a Senior Database Administrator to take ownership of our AWS RDS infrastructure. In this role, you will be a vital resource for our software engineering and analytics teams, acting as a coach who guides them through complex query and schema design. You will be responsible for ensuring our data systems remain robust and scalable, utilizing your deep expertise in Postgres and Aurora to optimize performance. You will report directly to an Engineering Manager and work in a hybrid capacity, with the role based in either our Bangalore or Hyderabad offices.

A day in the life

• You will proactively monitor our database performance, troubleshooting any issues that arise to ensure our 24x7 production environment remains stable and efficient.
• You will collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and data professionals to refine existing schemas, design new ones, and resolve performance bottlenecks through expert query optimization.
• You will manage our database lifecycle by creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation, developing troubleshooting playbooks, and testing our failover and recovery plans.

Who you are

You are a seasoned professional with at least 6 years of experience in database management and engineering. You possess a deep understanding of PostgreSQL in a high-scale production environment and have a proven track record of architecting large-scale cloud database platforms. You are fluent in English and bring the following skills to the table:

• Exceptional proficiency in SQL development and performance tuning.
• Expertise in analyzing Postgres system metrics and implementing advanced optimization strategies.
• A solid grasp of virtualization, clustered environments, and modern cloud database utilities.
